Following the demise of the
long running Dallas based Original Tournament of Champions, a group of
senior DeMolays and Masons established the Old South Tournament. From its
inception in 1991, the rules of the Tournament have been designed
to be fair to all competitors whether competing in an individual contest or
as a member of a competitive team. The Old South Tournament is the
only national ritual tournament in DeMolay where competitors come from across
the country each year to compete, meet and exchange ideas with their brethren
while enjoying the flavor and hospitality of the Tournament's host city, New
Orleans. The Tournament is guided
by an Executive Board whose members include past and present jurisdictional
Executive Officers, jurisdictional ritual directors, active and honorary
members of the Supreme Council as well as Chapter Advisors of DeMolay
Chapters from across the country. This diverse group provides the leadership
necessary to insure the Old South Tournament affords a healthy environment
for our members. Don't miss the fun and
excitement of the twelfth annual tournament - come join us in New Orleans,
Louisiana, March 14-16, 2008! See you there!!! Contests are grouped as
follows: Championship
Division Open
Division Individual
Parts The Championship
Division is for jurisdictional, regional, previous Tournament winners
and/or those certified by their Executive Officer or Ritual Director as being
sufficiently proficient to enter this highly competitive division of
competition. The Open
Division is exactly that - open to all comers. This division affords the
novice or first time competitor the opportunity to compete in a structured
tournament environment where they can hone their competitive skills. |

Individual
Parts Contests
afford the individual DeMolay an opportunity to compete in the ritual work
necessary in the day to day operation of his Chapter. To keep
every competitor on a level playing field, those DeMolays who were members of
a competitive team (ie., a DeMolay Degree team), may not compete in the
Individual Parts contest in the same part they held on their degree team.
Thus, a DeMolay who was Master Inquisitor of his DeMolay Degree competitive
team may NOT compete in the Master Inquisitor Individual Parts Contest. Team contests, requiring a minimum of eight members per team, include: Initiatory
Degree DeMolay
Degree Chapter
Proficiency Contest
Small Team contests,
requiring more than one but less than eight members required above, include: Fourth
Section Recognition Pin Ceremony Representative DeMolay Ceremony
Single-Speaker contests
include: Flower
